If you’ve never made a dessert in your slow cooker, this Crockpot Chocolate Cobbler will win you over fast. It’s rich, gooey, and ridiculously easy – the kind of dessert that practically makes itself while you handle dinner (or binge your favorite show).

Two bowls of freshly Crockpot-baked chocolate cobbler topped with vanilla ice cream.

Now, I’ll be honest – this one’s not much to look at. When it’s done, the top looks a little burnt and messy… but don’t you dare doubt it. Under that dark, fudgy crust is a warm, molten chocolate layer that’s pure heaven. It’s like the love child of a brownie and a hot fudge sundae. Just add a scoop of vanilla ice cream, and you’ve got dessert perfection.

And if you’re on the hunt for a slow cooker that’s as cute as it is functional, I’m obsessed with The Pioneer Woman Crockpot – it’s lightly speckled, has wooden handles, and looks adorable sitting on the counter while it works its magic.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 cups boiling water
  • 3 ½ cups white granulated sugar
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • ½ cup melted salted butter
  • 6 tablespoons + ½ cup cocoa powder, divided
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • Vanilla ice cream (optional garnish)

Items Needed:

  • 6-quart Crockpot or larger

Directions

  1. Combine all ingredients in the Crockpot except for 2 cups of sugar and ½ cup of cocoa powder. Mix thoroughly.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix the reserved 2 cups of sugar and ½ cup of cocoa powder together. Sprinkle evenly over the top of the batter in the Crockpot.
  3. Cover and cook on HIGH for 3–4 hours, or until the top looks set and slightly crusted.
  4. Spoon into bowls and serve warm with vanilla ice cream, if desired.

Tips for Perfect Crockpot Chocolate Cobbler

  • Don’t cook on low. It just doesn’t set right – you’ll end up with soup instead of cobbler. Stick with high for the perfect texture.
  • Trust the process. The top will look dark – even a little burnt – but that’s the deep, rich chocolate doing its thing. It’s fudgy, not burnt!
  • Keep it tidy. For easier cleanup, mix the batter in a separate bowl before adding it to the Crockpot.
  • Reheat like a pro. Warm individual servings in the microwave for 20–30 seconds. Add a splash of milk or cream before reheating if it becomes too thick.
