Monkey Bread in the Air Fryer
This air fryer monkey bread is a crunchy, sweet delight that your family will go bananas over. This delectable dish is a twist on traditional monkey bread. Made in an air fryer using canned biscuits, it has the texture of slightly crunchy dough with pockets of sweet goodness inside!

Traditional monkey bread is made from a refrigerated can of biscuits that are removed one at a time from the can with a pair of tongs and placed into the bundt pan to be baked. This recipe uses canned biscuits as well, but it does not require any forming or shaping. Or, if you like things to be more rounded, feel free to go ahead and roll the dough.
After they’re baked in the air fryer, the biscuits come out soft and chewy with sweet pockets (because they’re airy) throughout.
While some monkey bread produces a syrupy sticky mess, this recipe does not do that. There’s just the right amount of cinnamon and sugar to coat the dough balls.
Ingredients
To make this simple monkey bread recipe, you need the following ingredients:
- 1 large can of refrigerated biscuit dough
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
- ¼ cup butter melted
- ¼ cup brown sugar
You will also need a 6-inch round cake pan that will fit into your air fryer. I found a cute little 6-cup Nordic Ware Bundt pan at Target for less than $10. It’s designed for the Instant Pot, but it worked in my air fryer for this recipe. (You can use my affiliate link and get this Bundt pan at Amazon for under $10, too.)
Instructions
Preheat your air fryer to 325° Fahrenheit. Spray a 6″ round cake pan (or 6-cup Bundt pan) with cooking spray. Separate the biscuits and cut each into 4 pieces.
Next, stir granulated sugar with cinnamon in a large bowl. Toss biscuit pieces in the cinnamon and sugar mixture until well coated. Place each biscuit piece in the prepared pan.
Stir together butter and brown sugar. Pour the mixture evenly over the biscuit pieces.
[I goofed up and tossed the biscuit pieces around in the buttery brown sugar mixture. That’s why it’s always a good idea to read and then re-read the instructions before cooking or baking. The dish still turned out delicious, nonetheless.]

Place the pan in the air fryer basket and cook for 20 minutes until brown. Let the monkey bread cool for 10 minutes before flipping the bread out of the pan and serving.
How To Invert
When you get ready to flip over (invert) the cake pan, keep in mind that the air fryer basket could still be very hot and burn you.
Place a cake plate or dinner plate on top of the air fryer basket. Hold both the plate and the basket and turn them over simultaneously, very carefully.
Lift the air fryer basket off of the plate.
Remove the cake or Bundt pan from the monkey bread.

For an elevated dessert, drizzle salted caramel sauce over a plate and top it with baked monkey bread for a sweet finish.
