If youโ€™ve ever sipped sangria on a sunny patio and thought, โ€œWhy donโ€™t I make this more often?โ€โ€”consider this your official nudge.

What Is Spanish Sangria?

Sangria is more than just a fruity wine punchโ€”itโ€™s a cultural icon of Spain, served in tapas bars, family fiestas, and summer terraces across the country. According to Spainโ€™s official tourism site, the traditional version blends dry red wine, fresh fruit, sugar, and a splash of brandy. This recipe stays true to that spirit with Spanish wine, citrus slices, apple wedges, and a touch of cinnamon to give it just the right depth.

If you’re looking for a sangria that channels authentic Iberian flavorโ€”not just something red and sweet in a pitcherโ€”you’re in the right place.

Why This Sangria Works

  • Authentic flavor: Inspired by traditional Spanish ingredients (Tempranillo or Garnacha for the win).
  • Perfectly balanced: A mix of citrus, brandy, and orange liqueur sweetened just right.
  • Make-ahead friendly: Marinate for max flavorโ€”this is one drink that actually improves with a little wait.

Letโ€™s make it.
