On the road and craving a hearty salad? You might be surprised that the South’s favorite roadside restaurant, Cracker Barrel, has three salads on the menu that will satisfy your hunger.
Cracker Barrel is well known for its gift shop and Southern food. One thing most people may not be aware of is that there are three hearty salads on the menu. (There is a fourth salad, but it is simply a side salad.)
There is no other restaurant that says “Southern” better than Cracker Barrel. Founded in 1969 in Lebanon, Tennessee, Cracker Barrel now has locations in 45 states across the country.
According to Spoon University, the top five favorite dishes at Cracker Barrel are:
- Macaroni n’ Cheese
- Chicken n’ Dumplings
- Double-Chocolate Fudge Coca-Cola Cake
- Gravy n’ Biscuits
- Maple Jam ‘n Bacon Burger
Sadly, only of their salads made it to the top 10 dishes. The Southern Grilled Chicken Caesar Salad ranked #7.

The Corona Virus and Cracker Barrel
Cracker Barrel is monitoring the Corona Virus situation closely. They closed their dining rooms from March 15 – March 25 and transitioned all of their locations to curbside, pickup and delivery service.
Since that time, they have reopened some of their dining rooms. Their employees are wearing masks and are abiding by social distancing mandates by reducing the number of occupants in the restaurant.
Additional efforts of reducing the possible transmission have been the removal of the popular Peg Games from the tables, removal of salt and pepper shakers (they are available upon request), and are practicing enhanced cleaning and disinfection efforts at every store. (Click here for more information about how they are handling the pandemic.)
