This Chick-Fil-A sauce copycat recipe is spot on! I have to say, it might even be better than the original famous sauce. The key to making this copycat Chick-Fil-A sauce so delicious is the balance of flavors.

You’ll find that this recipe hits the perfect notes of sweet, savory, and tangy. There is a hint of lemon from lemon juice, sweetness from honey, creaminess from mayo, and to give it a bit of a smoke flavor, there’s barbecue sauce.

This recipe can easily be made at home with fridge and pantry staples. Chick-Fil-A sauce is the perfect dipping sauce for chicken nuggets, fries, or even to use as a salad dressing or as a spread for a chicken sandwich. So get creative and enjoy!

Original Chick-Fil-A Sauce

So, what’s in the real thing? According to the back of a bottle of Chick-Fil-A sauce, their original sauce is made with:

soybean oil, sugar, bbq sauce (tomato paste, corn syrup, vinegar, natural hickory smoke flavor, caramel color, spices, garlic*, onion*, natural flavor, oleoresin paprika), water, mustard (distilled vinegar, water, mustard seeds, salt, turmeric, paprika, spices, garlic*), distilled vinegar, egg yolk, salt, cider vinegar, lemon juice concentrate, mustard flour, xanthan gum, natural flavor, garlic*, calcium disodium EDTA added to protect flavor. *dehydrated CONTAINS: EGG

With this homemade version, you don’t have to hunt down all of those ingredients. If you don’t already have them, then you should be able to find them at your local grocery store.

Let’s take a look at how it’s made.

📝Ingredients

  • ½ cup honey
  • 4 tablespoons yellow mustard
  • ½ cup bbq sauce
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
Mayonnaise, mustard, barbecue sauce, honey, and lemon juice in small glass bowls.

👩🏻‍🍳Instructions

Step 2: For best results, chill for a couple of hours before using so that the flavors can “marry.”

I tried this and respectfully, my sauce is a lot more yellow than the sauce in this photo – I followed the recipe EXACTLY – please advise?

      How did the sauce taste?
The color could be affected by the brand(s) that you used due to natural and/or artificial coloring in the products.
