The Best Pizza in Gulf Shores, Alabama
While Gulf Shores is known for its sandy white beaches and fresh seafood from the Gulf, there is good news for pizza lovers. You can enjoy delicious pizza made with fresh ingredients without ever leaving your beachside condo. In search of the best pizza in Gulf Shores, I found myself at Crico’s Pizza and Subs thanks to the reviews at both Yelp and TripAdvisor.
According to reviews, Crico’s is the place to go in Gulf Shores to satisfy your pizza cravings. That’s right. This Gulf Shores restaurant is number one on the list of pizza spots at the beach. The Gulf Shores institution has been serving pizza and subs since 1998.
Named after the nickname of the owner, it’s a mom-and-pop pizzeria, known not only for its pizza but also for its sub sandwiches and wings.
The Menu
As mentioned above, the menu features pizzas, subs, and wings as well as salads and other sides.
āPizzas
Crico’s Neopolitan pizzas are made with homemade dough and homemade pizza sauce and are available in 10-inch 12-inch, and 14-inch pies. They also offer a 10-inch gluten-free crust.
Crico’s pizzas can be customized with your choice of toppings (pepperoni, Candian bacon, beef, Italian sausage, bacon, anchovies, mushrooms, green peppers, onion, black olives, banana peppers, jalapenos, chopped garlic, and my fav – pineapple!). If you aren’t picky, you can opt for one of their specialty pizzas like their Supreme, All Meat, Veggie, or the Crico’s Favorite (pepperoni, bacon, onion, Canadian bacon, Italian sausage, and jalapenos.
If you have picky little ones, you can always get half of a specialty pizza with the other half with just cheese. (This is what I ordered in the name of “research.”) Better yet, just order a whole pizza for the adults and a cheese pizza for the kids. This way the whole family will be happy.
Subs
I didn’t try any of the subs on the menu because my main “research” was “investigating” their pizza.
What others have said:
” Crico’s subs are amazing. They’re perfect and EXACTLY like the ones up north, anyone who hasn’t tried it has to. It’s not optional, you can’t die happy until you had one.”

āSub options include: Roast Beef & Cheese, Tuna & Cheese, Italian, Meatball & Cheese, Ham & Cheese, Club, Turkey & Cheese, Veggie & Cheese, Steak & Cheese – I am seeing a pattern here, are you? – Roasted Chicken, and BLT. You can also build your own sub using 3 meats and one cheese. They offer a variety of dressings and topping for subs.
Salads
āThere are five salads on the menu: Garden, Chef, Antipasto, Tuna, and Grilled Chicken Salad. Dressing options are Italian, Ranch, Thousand Island, Honey Mustard, and French.
Sides
I find this to be a bit of a misnomer (misnamed) because, on the sides menu, you will find Dessert Pizza and Chicken Wings. Other items on the side menu are Crico Sticks and Garlic Bread.
Dining Options
As I stated above, you don’t even have to leave your condo, hotel, etc. in Gulf Shores because delivery is available for a small charge of just $4 (please don’t forget to tip!). Outdoor seating is available at the restaurant so you can even bring Fiddo with you.
Hours
Crico’s is open daily from 11:00 am until 9:00 pm.
Location
Crico’s is located in the heart of Gulf Shores at 309 Gulf Shores Parkway. Call 251-948-3100 to place an order or order at the restaurant in-person.
As I was walking across the parking lot, I asked a man carrying a pizza if it was the best pizza in Gulf Shores. He quickly responded that it was indeed.
I took my pizza back to my hotel room and enjoyed it for not only dinner but also for breakfast and an afternoon snack. (I love having a hotel room with a mini fridge!)
The pizza was hot and loaded with generous layers of cheese and toppings, all atop a sturdy crust that held up to every savory bite. Yes, Crico’s does make good pizza.
