Regular paprika will work, however, the flavor of the smoky paprika is so distinct it's desirable.
If you don’t have both black and white pepper, just use one or the other and combine the amounts. For example, if you only have black pepper and no white, just do 2 Tablespoons of black pepper.
The seasoning may last longer than 6 months, but the freshness isn’t as potent and you may have to use more. Make sure that the individual spices that you use are well within their "Best By" date.
