Scalloped Potatoes and Ham

This comforting dish is a great way to use leftover ham and potatoes.

  • 4 tbsp butter
  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 3 cups whole milk
  • 6 cups potatoes thinly sliced
  • 1 cup ham diced
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 2 tbsp dehydrated minced onions


  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  • Melt butter over medium heat in a large saucepan. Add flour, salt, and pepper and mix. Slowly whisk in milk and increase heat to medium-high.
  • Cook milk mixture until it begins to thicken and starts to boil. Remove it from the heat.
  • Layer potatoes, ham, and frozen peas in the bottom of a casserole dish or 9x13 pan. Ladle half of milk mixture on top. Repeat layers.
  • Cover casserole and bake for 65 minutes. Remove cover and bake for an additional 15 minutes.
  • Remove casserole from oven and allow to cool for 10 minutes before serving.
