Easy Homemade Pizza Crust

This homemade pizza crust recipe is easy to make and the results are a chewy pizza crust that you can customize with your favorite toppings.

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups water
  • 1 Tablespoon honey
  • 1 ½ teaspoons yeast or one packet
  • 3 ½ - 4 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 150 degrees. Turn off the oven.
  • Warm water in microwave on HIGH setting for 35 seconds.
  • Add honey and yeast and let sit for 5 minutes.
  • Place flour and salt in bowl of stand mixer.  Add water/yeast mixture and mix until combined.
  • Using dough hook, knead dough for 3-5 minutes.
  • Spray pizza dough with cooking spray or use a couple of tablespoons of olive oil to light coat dough.
  • Keep dough in mixing bowl and place in the (turned off) oven for 1 hour.  You can leave the dough in the (turned off) oven for a few hours before using. 
  • When ready to use, remove the dough from the oven and preheat oven to 450 °F.
  • Divide the dough in half and roll out each half on a lightly floured surface into desired shape and size.  Use a fork and poke small holes around the surface to allow air to escape.
  • Bake for 8 minutes.  Remove from the oven and top with your favorite toppings.
  • Bake for an additional 8-10 minutes with toppings. 
  • Remove from oven and enjoy.

Alternatively, you can wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate or freeze to use later.  If you choose this option, allow the dough to come to room temperature before using it.  You can thaw frozen dough overnight in the refrigerator.  Allow at least 30 minutes for the refrigerated dough to come to room temp.
One batch of dough could make up to 3 large pizzas.  The nutrition information is calculated based on 3 pizzas and each pizza having 3 servings.
