You don’t have to be an oenophile (wine lover) or maestro (distinguished musician) to appreciate wine or music. All it takes to enjoy the two are four of the senses that you were born with: sight, smell, taste, and sound.
Both wine and music are distinguishable by their notes. Combining the two arts (wine making and music writing), Cambria Winery, the makers of Cambria’s Benchbreak Chardonnay and Cambria’s Benchbreak Pinot Noir, partnered with musician Kalei Yamanoha to bring these two American wines to life through music.
Kalei started by visiting the estate where he was able to see the beautiful vineyards and examine the complex flavors (or notes!) of the wines. Watch the video and you will see how some terminology intertwines between music and wine:
Just listening to the descriptions of the wines is enticing – Cambria’s Benchbreak Chardonnay with its bright and citrusy fruit flavors and the flavors of cherry, strawberry, raspberry, and pomegranate in Cambria’s Benchbreak Pinot Noir. It’s easy to picture myself enjoying a glass of Cambria’s Benchbreak Pinot Noir, allowing myself to decompress and relax.
Here is an infographic that summarizes how the music that Kalei composed correlates to Cambria’s Benchbreak Pinot Noir:
I like how the pictograph makes it easy to see how the two intertwine. The layers of sound + the layers of flavors make one delicious tasting experience. The only thing that would make it better would be enjoying it with the ones you love.
Even if you are like me and have know musical background, you have to admit that what Kalei did was quite amazing. Turning Cambria’s Benchbreak Chardonnay and Cambria’s Benchbreak Pinot Noir “flavors into sound” was quite an accomplishment.
You don’t have to go to California’s Santa Maria Valley to get Cambria’s estate grown and bottled, high quality, immensely flavorful wines. Simply click here to find where Cambria’s Benchbreak Chardonnay and Cambria’s Benchbreak Pinot Noir are available near you. Then when you have your glass of wine in your hand, replay the music video and sit back and relax to the sounds that go hand-in-hand with the wine.
Remember to always drink responsibly and to never drink and drive.1
