How To Make Fried Apples

It's hard to beat a bowl full of apple slices steeped in brown sugar with butter and cinnamon.  They are great on top of vanilla ice cream, pancakes or waffles but they are also great when they're eaten right out the pot.

INGREDIENTS 6 medium Honeycrisp apples 4 tablespoons butter 1 teaspoon cinnamon ½ cup sugar ¼ cup light brown sugar 1 tablespoon corn starch 2 tablespoons cold water

Add apples, butter, cinnamon, sugar, and brown sugar to a large cast-iron skillet or medium saucepan.  Cook on medium-low heat for 20-25 minutes, stirring frequently, until the apples are fork-tender.

Pour a cornstarch slurry into the apples, stirring constantly.

When the apples start to boil, stir for one minute and then turn off the heat.

Allow the fried apples to cool for 10 minutes. The sauce will continue to thicken as it stands.

Serve over vanilla ice cream, waffles, or pancakes.
