Whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Cream the shortening, sugar, and brown sugar. Add apple sauce and vanilla.
Add the dry ingredients to cream mixture. Fold in chocolate chips.
Place scoops of cookie dough balls onto a prepared baking sheet.
Bake for 10 – 12 minutes or until cookies are golden brown.
Remove the cookies from the baking sheet and allow them to finish cooling on a wire rack.
These chocolate chip cookies are so delicious nobody will notice that they are egg-free.
