If you are like me and enjoy going to unique kitchen shops, then let me tell you about The Cupboard.
The Cupboard is located in the historic heart of downtown Decatur, Alabama. Ginger Cobl opened shop after working for nearly a decade in the non-profit industry. An avid cook, Ginger found it difficult to find certain spices and cooking tools locally. So Ginger decided to change that situation and opened The Cupboard. The store showcases local, regional, small makers of goods and cooking.
There are a wide range of products at the shop, such as Earthborn Pottery, 1818 Farms, Cloister Honey, WÜSTHOF, Revol, Georgia Olive Farms, and Yesterwares, a line of vintage and antique mix and match silver plate flatware.
Ginger is always searching for the best and most unique products. New merchandise arrives almost weekly.
Revol Porcelain Tea and Coffee Cups
Ginger enjoys supporting other small businesses and makers. She also loves family run businesses that are steeped in history, such as Revol, that has been making bakeware since 1768.
Ginger’s passion is helping others cook outside their comfort zones.
When asked about her favorite recipe to make, Ginger replied, “That’s a tough one…I developed a really quick and easy Greek meatball recipe served over orzo, with a garlic, lemon, dill dressing.” She also said, “I love to make Clafoutis, and one of my all time favs is Harissa potatoes.” (Ginger loves to experiment with ethnic foods.)
Ginger enjoys hosting cooking demonstrations and trunk shows for her vendors at The Cupboard. Be sure to follow The Cupboard on Facebook (and Instagram!) to keep up with all of the store’s events and to see new merchandise.
The Cupboard is located at 504 Bank Street in Decatur and is open Monday through Friday from 10 am until 5 pm, and Saturdays from 10 am until 4 pm.
