Sheraton Panama City Beach Golf & Spa Resort

The Sheraton Panama City Beach Golf & Spa Resort is close to all of the fun that you want to experience and yet far away from all the chaos. The scenic views of St. Andrew’s Bay may be all you need to forget about everything else that is going on around you.

Update 2024

The Sheraton Panama City Beach Golf and Spa Resort was acquired by Bluegreen Vacations for $78 million in October 2022.

Before you go, please read the reviews online. If you have stayed here since the property changed ownership, please leave a comment below and tell us about your experience.

The Sheraton Panama City Beach Golf & Spa Resort had an extensive renovation following Hurricane Michael in 2018.  The resort is back to its grandeur and is the only AAA Four Diamond-rated hotel in Panama City Beach.

I was invited to explore the recently renovated property and was allowed to experience first-hand the amenities that are available at the resort.  Staying at the Sheraton Panama City Beach Golf & Spa Resort, you would never notice that it had suffered any damage from Hurricane Michael.

The resort is tastefully decorated with a beach theme without being too forward.  Let me show you some pictures that I captured around the resort and tell you more about it.

The Lobby

Water cooler in hotel lobby.

Stepping through the doors and into the main lobby, guests are welcome to grab a glass of spa water.  It’s a refreshing way to stay hydrated.

Sofa and seating area in hotel lobby.

The seating in the lobby is inviting and comfortable and makes for a great meeting point.

Computers and workstation at the resort.

There are a couple of computers available in the lobby business center making it convenient to check flights or the VisitPanamaCityBeach.com calendar.

Guest Rooms

There are 320 rooms at the PCB resort, many with bay and pool views.  There are 200 in the main facility along the bay and 120 Villas across from the main resort (60 of which are 1 bedroom Villa Suites).  The resort is pet-friendly and the Villas offer a great area for walking with your dog.

The rooms are stylish and comfortable and include cable TV and high-speed Wi-Fi access, Sheraton SleeperĀ® beds, and typical amenities including a flat-screen TV, a hair dryer, and complimentary toiletries.

The rooms also include a refrigerator and beverage station with a coffee maker, making it easy to rise and shine with a cup of Starbucks coffee.

I was hosted in room 1614, part of the Presidential Suite.  It’s the closest I have been to a President that I am aware of (via the Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon).  True to its name, the suite has played host to an American president, namely President Barack Obama.  He and his family stayed at the resort in 2010 during the Gulf of Mexico oil spill.

The balcony from room 1614 has a gorgeous view of St. Andrew’s Bay. It was relaxing to look out over the water and observe wildlife in the bay. I could also see the resort’s private beach and Pelican’s, a casual resort restaurant at the end of the scenic boardwalk.

Additional lodging options are:

Villa Suites – Guests looking for extra space or planning an extended stay will find the one-bedroom Villa Suites to be an ideal guestroom choice. Villa Suits offerings include a single king or double queen option with a connected living room that includes a large seating area with a full-size sofa bed. The Villa Suites also include beverage stations with microwave ovens and have access to the dedicated villa pool and laundry facility.

Golf Villas – Golf villas are located across from the main resort building, some of which feature full kitchens.

The Fitness Center

View of bay from the fitness center at the resort.

Guests at the resort have access to the fitness center which is open 24/7.  The fitness center is located on the main level and boasts amazing views.  Among the equipment in the fitness center, guests will find treadmills, a spin bike, recumbent bikes, ellipticals, weights, free weights, and dumbells.

Fitness center amenities include a water cooler, face towels, and earbuds.

The Spa

Spa whirlpool.

Included in the $30 daily resort fee is the use of the spa.  (The fee also includes unlimited high-speed guestroom internet, self-parking, $20 off morning golf round, 20% of golf club rentals, 10% off tennis day pass, 1 yoga class/day, the fitness center access, access to the game room, YOLOĀ® Bike access, and 2 adult facility passes to Serenity Spa.)

This is a great value ($185).  At Serenity Spa, I highly recommend that you take the yoga class if you are able and take advantage of having a whirlpool, steam room, and sauna at your disposal.

Guests can also book a massage at the 12,000 square foot, full-service spa, for an additional fee – naturally, and shop their selection of body products, and get a body treatment, skincare, as well as hair and nail service.

Other Things To Do at the Resort

The resort lies on St. Andrew’s Bay and is a nature lover’s paradise.  Herons, egrets, pelicans, and more can be spotted soaking up the sun by the resort.

Path to private beach at the resort.

Guests can walk down the pier to visit the resort’s private bay beach just like Kevin Bacon and his band, the Bacon Brothers.

Lounge chairs and umbrellas at the private beach.

If freshwater is more to your liking, then you will be pleased to know that guests can lounge in the oasis surrounding the resort’s three outdoor swimming pools: Azalea, Villa, and Palms pool. (The Azalea is a heated pool!)

Guests also take a spin on one of the cute blue YOLO bikes across the property’s 1,000+ acres.

Art lovers will enjoy the art gallery where art from local artists is on display (and available for purchase).

Around the resort are a couple of large checkers game boards and even a Connect Four-style game that guests are welcome to play.

Bay Point Golf Club

For golf lovers, there is an 18-hole Nicklaus Design golf course – the only one in Northwest Florida.  Kids under 12 play free with a paying adult, making it another great way to spend some quality time with the kiddos.

Bay Point Golf also includes a full practice facility, club rentals, and lessons for individuals and groups.

Other things to note are that the resort has paddleboard, kayak, jet ski, and pontoon rentals.  Plus, later this year they will have a catamaran (back) that offers snorkel and dolphin trips, plus daily sunset cruises from the dock behind the hotel.

Also, there are 5 clay tennis courts for tennis lovers.

Dining At the Resort

There are five distinctive dining options at the resort.  For breakfast, guests can stop by the resort’s own coffee shop, Cabana Cafe, to purchase StarbucksĀ® coffee and other StarbucksĀ® favorite beverages as well as house-made pastries and sandwiches.

For a heartier or sit-down breakfast, guests can dine at the resort’s signature restaurant, TIDES.

My personal preferred venue to dine at the resort is at Flip Flops Pool Bar, an open restaurant where guests can enjoy fish tacos al fresco while gazing out at the bay. (It’s my kind of outdoor dining.)

For an evening drink and for a nice dinner, there’s TIDES restaurant which serves fresh coastal flavors.

If you are going to be at the resort during the first Friday of a month, be sure to reserve your spot for the First Friday Wine Dinner. For $75, you will enjoy a five-course meal and discover wines that pair perfectly for each course. Reservations for the event sell out quickly.

Two other dining options are Pelicans, as mentioned earlier, and Bar 72 located at Bay Point Golf & Tennis Club.

The Pavilion and Lawn

The resort also has a beautiful pavilion that makes a great backdrop for weddings and other celebrations.

The Conference Center

If you are looking for a venue for a conference, this would be a great place.  There is more than 60,000 square feet of flexible indoor and outdoor event and meeting space which includes a 12,000 square foot ballroom, 8,000 square foot junior ballroom, 8 additional breakout rooms, and 22 individual meeting rooms.  The convention center can host up to 1500 people.

I think this would be an awesome place to conduct business, marrying the best of business and pleasure.  (If you work somewhere that is looking for a location, consider the Sheraton Panama City Beach Golf & Spa Resort!)
