Once on board the boat, youโ€™ll be treated to a safety briefing and learn about all of the necessary steps for a safe takeoff. The captain will then help you gear up with your parachute as you make your way up into the sky!

Once in flight, enjoy the stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean and Key Westโ€™s unique landscape. Keep an eye out for dolphins and other sea life. We saw a couple of turtles as well as a spotted eagle ray jumping out of the water while we were in flight.

Parasailing Tips

Before taking off, make sure to listen carefully to the instructions provided by your guide. They will give you important information on how to properly use your equipment, what to expect during the flight, and any safety precautions to be aware of.

Dress appropriately for the occasion. Wear comfortable clothing that won’t restrict your movement or fall off during the flight. You may also want to bring along sunglasses and sunscreen to protect yourself from the sun.

Communicate with your guide throughout the flight if you feel uncomfortable or have any questions. Let them know if you want to take a dip in the water or if you prefer to stay dry. (We had a dry takeoff as well as a dry landing.)

DON’T bring any loose objects or valuables with you on the flight.

At the end of your trip, don’t forget to tip the crew. Twenty percent is customary.

If you’re lucky, you might even catch a glimpse of some of Key West’s famous marine life, such as dolphins or sea turtles.

As your parasail adventure comes to an end, your guide will slowly bring you back down to the boat.

We booked our first parasailing adventure through Sebago Watersports and were not disappointed. The parasail crew was professional and friendly and made the trip extremely enjoyable.

Before the trip, we signed a waiver, which is standard. We arrived 30 minutes early to check in at their office at 205 Elizabeth Street at the Historic Key West Seaport. After that, we made our way to the departure point and boarded the boat.

We put on our life jackets and received a safety briefing before our takeoff. They checked all of our safety harnesses and then got the parasail chute ready for takeoff.

The views from up in the air were spectacular and we felt completely safe throughout the entire experience.
