I can’t believe that I have allowed myself to gain these extra 15-20 pounds that I am carrying. I probably should have bought some new clothes so that I would look better, but my personal philosophy has been to never buy clothes bigger than what you want to wear. What I mean is, I don’t want to wear larger than a size 10 in clothes, so I refuse to buy size 12 or larger. I feel that when someone buys larger clothes, it just makes it easier to keep getting larger. After all, you don’t see a woman go from size 4 to 14 overnight. It is a gradual process.
Well, my clothes look awful on me and it became time that either I break my personal philosophy or do something about it. I chose the latter option.
I am a lifetime member of Weight Watchers and I believe that it is the industry standard for diets. However, what I want right now is a little structure – I don’t want to have to figure out how many points I have available or what do I want to eat.
I went to Wal-Mart and bought a regular 5 Day Weight Loss Kit (a diabetic version is also available). The box indicates that it has 15 entrees and 5 desserts. The pictures make the food look tasty. Included in the box was a FREE meal planner! Basically, it was a brochure telling you what to eat for which meal and snack period. This is the structure that I was looking for.
Below is what I ate for Day One:
Nutrisystem Granola Cereal
(with 1/2 cup fat-free milk)
1 cup low-fat yogurt
1 cup fat-free milk
Nutrisystem Red Beans & Rice
1/4 cup low-fat shredded cheese
2 cups side salad
1 medium apple
Nutrisystem Lasagna with Meat Sauce
1 slice whole-grain garlic toast
1/2 cup sauteed squash
1/2 cup sauteed zucchini
Nutrisystem Chocolatey Nougat Bar with Peanuts and Caramel
My day did not go quite as planned. I had to take my oldest child to a doc-in-the-box and she was diagnosed with strep. This little aversion, plus going to the pharmacy to get her meds, took about 2.5 hours. I missed my morning snack but combined it with my lunch. Besides, who ever says, “I want milk for my snack“? Nobody -that’s who!
I went for a walk but got distracted by a dog, who I felt like I had to bring home. Sweet thing, she needed a drink and a little dog food.
I got a little distracted sorry. Back to the diet – it was pretty convenient. I like the structure. However, I was H.U.N.G.R.Y. If I wasn’t doing a review (which is not sponsored or compensated) for my blog, I probably would have gotten something else to eat. (Which is exactly why I am in this predicament to begin.)
Come back tomorrow for a breakdown of Day Two and see what I ate and thought.
