I dedicate this post to YOU.  All of you, but especially those who have kids who are always hungry and want something good to eat.  This recipe for Homemade Pizza Bagel Bites just might make you a hero in their eyes.  And since they are homemade, you know what ingredients are in them.

To make these cute little snacks, you need to make the pizza sauce.  This is really easy.  You start with a 15-ounce can of Muir Glen Organic Tomato Sauce and a 6-ounce can of Muir Glen Organic Tomato Paste.  You can tell immediately that we are off to a good start.  Organic.  ‘Nuff said, right?

Pour the cans into a large bowl and add seasonings (see the recipe below).  Stir well and let sit for about 20 minutes.

While the seasonings are melding in the sauce, rinse fresh bell peppers and gather an onion.

Dice them into nice bite-sized pieces.

Take a mini bagel and halve it.  Spoon sauce on top of the bagel halves, sprinkle some mozzarella or your favorite cheese, and then add your toppings.  (My son is a veggie lover, so in addition to the onion and bell peppers, we add sliced olives and mushrooms).

I like to keep the sauce and chopped veggies in my refrigerator.  That way when my son comes home from school and wants a snack, I can make bagel pizza bites quickly.  It’s food that I feel good about him eating.

I know it can seem daunting trying to eat well.  Many people think that organic products are too expensive.  I want to tell you – in case you did not already know – that Walmart carries organic products.  That’s where I get the Muir Glen Tomato products to make my pizza sauce.

Walmart also carries other great natural and organic brands that make stocking my son’s lunchbox easier, such as Annie’s, LÄRABAR, and Cascadian Farms.  Yes, even though my son has moved on to high school, he still brings his lunch.  Every. Single. Day.  It’s nice being able to get natural and organic products at Walmart to pack in his lunchbox.
