Located in the heart of downtown Roanoke, Virginia, the Hotel Roanoke ranks among the top two hotels in the city. If you’re anything like us, you have a goal of seeking out exceptional accommodations whenever you travel. The Hotel Roanoke had been on our radar for a couple of years, so when we were driving through Virginia this year we made sure to book a night so that we could explore the grand old lady who gets excellent ratings at TripAdvisor.com.
Hotel Lobby
Upon entering The Hotel Roanoke, we were transported to a bygone era. The grand lobby exudes classic elegance. The cozy seating areas, accompanied by a welcoming fireplace, are a great place to unwind. Adjacent to the lobby is the check-in desk, all enveloped in the warmth of rich wood paneling, creating an atmosphere that seamlessly marries the charm of the past with modern comforts.
Guest Rooms
The hotel offers 330 beautifully appointed guest rooms, each designed with a blend of Southern comfort and modern amenities. Featuring plush bedding, flat-screen TVs, and complimentary Wi-Fi, these rooms provide a comfortable and stylish retreat.
The hotel features an array of 31 room types that cater to diverse preferences, ranging from deluxe corner rooms and executive rooms to PURE rooms and accessible rooms, ensuring that every guest can find the right accommodation.
Hotel Bathrooms
Elegance continues into the bathrooms, where you’ll find custom tilework and premium bath amenities. Molton Brown toiletries are provided in each bathroom, adding a touch of indulgence to your stay. (It was the first hotel that I have seen provide a shower pouf.)
Hotel Amenities
The Hotel Roanoke prides itself on an array of amenities. These include a fitness center, free wifi access, a 24-hour business center, and a beautiful outdoor pool.
Dining Options
Food lovers will be delighted with the dining options available. The Regency Room is the hotel’s signature restaurant, renowned for its classic Southern cuisine. The breakfast buffet is a great option for fueling up before exploring Roanoke. (We opted to book a package that included the Honors breakfast. In retrospect, was a good decision.)

Salt Foot Sanctuary
The Salt Foot Sanctuary is a haven of relaxation where you can soothe your tired feet after a day of exploring Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains or shopping downtown – you don’t even have to be a guest at the hotel in order to book services. The sanctuary’s signature foot soak treatments which feature ancient natural minerals and essential oils. To top it off, treatments include a mini-massage of the lower legs and feet.
Feet aren’t the only things that get pampered at the spa. Other spa services available are facial and skincare treatments, relaxation and therapeutic massages, and body scrub and polish treatments. Tip: Check the website for seasonal special offers and book your spa appointment when you book your room.
Hotel Parking
Convenient hotel parking is available. Self-parking costs $15 per night and valet parking is $21 per night. Those with disabilities receive complimentary parking. Be sure to bring your handicapped parking placard or accessible parking permit to take advantage of this complimentary parking service.
Check-in and Check-Out Times
Check-in time at The Hotel Roanoke is at 4:00 PM, and check-out is at 11:00 AM. (Roanoke is in the Eastern Daylight Time zone.)
Pet Policy
The hotel does not allow pets. However, they do allow service animals on the property.
Handicapped Accessibility
The Hotel Roanoke strives to provide accessibility for all guests, with a range of accessible rooms and facilities. The hotel has elevators that reach the floors and a ramp to access the lobby.
Please contact the hotel directly to ensure your specific needs are met. We called because we were traveling with a mobility-impaired senior who uses a walker and wanted a room with a bathroom that he could use. The local agent booked us a room with a 3×3 shower which allowed our senior the ability to shower on his own.
Location
Situated at 110 Shenandoah Avenue in Roanoke, Virginia. It’s just a stone’s throw away from the Roanoke Amtrak station, making it easily accessible for travelers.

The Hotel Roanoke is a short walk from numerous restaurants and shops thanks to the Market Square Walkway, a glass-enclosed pedestrian bridge that straddles the train tracks that run through town.

The Hotel Roanoke met all of our expectations and did not disappoint. It is a charming and historically rich destination for travelers seeking a blend of Southern hospitality and modern comforts. Its warm and inviting ambiance, along with the classic charm of the lobby, exudes an atmosphere that takes you back in time while still offering all the conveniences of the present. With its prime location in Roanoke, you’ll have access to an array of local attractions and amenities that will make your stay both enjoyable and memorable. It is a hotel that we would love to return to.
