Buc-ee’s was founded in Lake Jackson, Texas in 1982, and as you know, everything in Texas is bigger, including Buc-ee’s! The beloved gas station is known for its friendly customer service, the cleanest restrooms, and its food and snacks. Some Buc-ee’s locations even have car washes!
Buc-ee’s has four locations in the state of Alabama – in Athens along Interstate Interstate 65, in Leeds off of Interstate 20, in Baldwin County in Loxley along the Baldwin Beach Express, and (the newest location) in Auburn off Interstate 85 at Exit 50.
Buc-ee’s has expanded beyond Alabama and Texas, making its mark in various southern states like Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, South Carolina, and Tennessee. If you’re in Colorado or Missouri, get excited because Buc-ee’s is coming your way soon!

In addition to typical convenience store snacks and drinks, Buc-ee’s offers fresh pastries, kolaches, Beaver Nuggets, jerky, homemade fudge, and brisket sandwiches.
They even have frozen foods ready for you to take home and bake.
Buc-ee’s caters to your sweet tooth with its ever-open bakery, fudge station, jerky station, and Dippin Dots counter.
Breakfast hours are from 4:00 am until 11:00 am at their travel centers. Hot food made to order is available 24 hours a day. Lunch hours begin at 11:00 am.

Gas Pumps
With 100 – 120 pumps at most locations, customers at the super-sized convenience/gas station don’t have to wait long at the pump. Some locations even carry DEF (diesel exhaust fluid) and ethanol-free gasoline.
Why is the Buc-ee’s mascot a beaver?
Co-founder Arch Alpin was nicknamed “Beaver,” hence the beaver mascot. Alpin’s pet dog was named “Buck” and he combined the two to create Buc-ee.
Does Buc-ee’s have a loyalty program?
Not at this time. They do have a credit card offered through TDECU (membership is required).
Buc-ee’s World Records
- The Sevierville, Tennessee, location is the largest convenience store in the world, with 74,000 square feet. (A new location opened in Luling, Texas, on June 10, 2024, has 75,000 square feet.)
- The Buc-ee’s Katy, Texas location holds the Guinness world record for the longest car wash with a 255-foot-long conveyor.
